Worldwide: Gender and conflict early warning - a framework for action
Source:
International Alert Despite the increasing importance that early warning systems are playing in identifying areas at risk of violent conflict and appropriate response options, gender still remains largely absent in conflict prevention and early warning programmes.
Within this context the joint publication, by the Swiss Peace Foundation and International Alert, provides an overview of how early warning can be “engendered” and the numerous benefits that gender mainstreaming can bring to early warning and the development of appropriate response options. It proposes a preliminary list of gender-sensitive early warning indicators and a set of recommendations for future research and action.
