UK: Women in Black - launch of new website

Women in Black
Women in Black (WiB) is a world-wide network of women committed to peace with justice and actively opposed to injustice, war, militarism and other forms of violence.
WiB is not an organisation, but a means of mobilisation and a formula for action. WiB is about building bridges across differences and borders, based on a shared perspective that WiB and other women create. WiB was inspired by earlier "women wearing black" like the Black Sash, in South Africa, and the Madres de la Plaza de Mayo, seeking the 'disappeared' in Argentina. WiB in the UK also developed from women refusing violence, militarism and war, like the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, formed in 1918, and the Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp, which successfully opposed the deployment of US missiles throughout the 1980's.
