Breakthrough is an international human rights organization that uses media, education and pop culture to promote values of dignity, equality and justice in the United States and India. Mehrunissa and Tarannum are two women teachers in Lucknow. They talk about ideas of education and exposure among lower middle class Muslim societies, their own experiences, and prejudice faced by their friends and peers. They talk about their mothers and the remarkable perseverance they showed in educating their daughters.

This documentary is a WLUML production, supported by City University of Hong Kong. The Stop Stoning Forever (SSF) campaign broke the news of scheduled stoning of Jafar Kiani and Mokarrameh Ebrahimi on 19 June 2007, and the public reaction led to the order of stoning being stayed. Jafar Kiani was stoned to death on 5 July, 2007.

Homa Hoodfar is Professor of Anthropology at Concordia University and has been actively involved in Women Living Under Muslim Laws since the 1980s. Her publications include: “Building Civil Societies: A Guide for Social and Political Participation”.

Farida Shaheed is Director of Research at Shirkat Gah - Women's Resource Centre in Pakistan. In 1986 she met Marieme Hélie-Lucas, the founder of Women Living Under Muslim Laws, who had come to Pakistan for a  program called 'Muslim Women Speak'. Farida Shaheed is a longstanding council member of WLUML. Ms. Shaheed is also the first Independent Expert on cultural rights.
